What are the practical project requirements?
Can you answer YES to these questions :
• Can you access a workplace or suitable organisation for the practicals ?
• Can you find people to participate in your group training sessions and workplace coaching ?
• Can you record the practicals and send in a DVD or tape ?
OR–
Here is an option for the classroom people in Sydney:
• If you are doing the classroom mode – will you use the optional assessment days for your projects ?
If you plan to enrol in the blended learning distance mode, in addition to the above requirements you will require access to a training related workplace to undertake a number of the practical sessions and assessment tasks.
You need access to different learners: individuals and groups, on a number of occasions.
A suitable workplace may be:
• a registered training organisation (RTO) where the participant is currently working;
• or an enterprise where she/he conducts training,
or an organisation that regularly conducts staff training.
If you are enrolling in the face-to-face mode, you can use a training related workplace to undertake the final practical sessions and assessment tasks. But you also undertake some assessments in the course in a simulated RTO.
The face-to-face course participants have the option of completing the final project at our venue with the other students in the course. |

I already work as a trainer and assessor in my industry. Why should I do this course ?
If you are working as a trainer and you don’t have any contact with accredited training, or apprentices or traineeships, you may not need this qualification. But it is a cross-industry, Australia wide recognised standard for professional trainers and assessors. TAE40110 will give you a solid grounding in competency based training – the standard for all industry qualifications across Australia and a growing number of European and Asian countries. |

Why are there course entry requirements for this course?
While there are no specific prerequisites for entry into TAE40110, the qualification requires an underlying level of English language and literacy and the ability to use computers.
You also need access to individuals and groups in a workplace to complete your practical projects.
The Participant Handbook sets out the entry requirements. You will need to be at a good level of literacy and communication to get the most out of the course. This is because during the course you will learn to do these sorts of “trainer” activities:
• read and interpret training packages and other training resources
• develop and write learning programs and session plans
• read and interpret and write assessment tasks
• use technology, including computers and software such as Powerpoint to make a presentation or submit your projects.
• present information in front of groups
• use a range of interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate learning.
We will ask you questions about how you meet these entry requirements as part of the enrolment process. If you have some concerns about any of these entry requirements, we can offer support so please talk to our staff about your individual needs. Some of these skills can be learnt within the course but you do need good underlying English language and literacy to get the most out of this course. |

What communication can I expect from the trainer in the blended learning mode ?
You will have a personal relationship with your trainer in this mode. The trainer is also your assessor and the main point of contact. The trainer will be in touch with you across the course. This contact and support includes:
• Once a month or more often by email asking how you are progressing.
• Whenever there is a Skype conference, the trainer will invite you to join the discussion.
• When you submit completed work and assessments, the trainer will contact you by email or phone to discuss your work, ask more questions if needed and give feedback and results.
• The trainer will coach you through the final projects and may make contact with the workplace or third party referees who are signing off your distance work.
• Finally, the trainer will ask you for feedback at the end of the modules and course so we can get your input on potential improvements.

I have read the course brochure so I know there are assessments. How many assessments are there?
There is a booklet of assessment activities for each module. It comes with templates and you fill in the booklet with your answers then do some independent work based on your industry. There are about 6 – 10 activities per module that build into a whole set of completed project tasks plus your final project that you do in the workplace. It does take extra time to complete the assessments in this quality course. The details of ‘Full Qualification Hours, Assessment Activities & Evidence–Student “Road Map”’ are provided towards the end of the Course Brochure to assist you in understanding the work involved for completing the qualification.

How do the assignments get marked?
You send in or hand in to class the assignments with a cover page. We log the date of submission and make sure the turnaround times are met for marking. The assignments are read by the trainer / assessor, marked on your work or on the cover page feedback form and sent to you by email. The feedback is also logged into student files in our database so we can closely monitor and support your progress. You have to get a satisfactory completion on a number of assignments before you are marked as Competent for a whole unit of competency.

|
What happens if I don’t pass an assessment ?
You get the chance to resubmit once. Then you may also get the chance to answer the questions orally if there is a small gap in your performance. In some cases, if there is more than one way to assess we will disregard the incomplete assessment and wait till you submit the major piece of work. You should build up your confidence by passing all assessment activities.

How do I give feedback if I want to give “brickbats” or “bouquets” – good feedback or a complaint?
You can email the Training Manager at any time to raise concerns about any aspects of the College or the course or to tell us how much you are enjoying the course. Our trainers work hard to support you and appreciate a few compliments if they are well deserved.
You can also use a formal complaints and assessment appeal system if things are quite serious. Again, contact the Training Manager and we will discuss your concerns and ask you to fill in some forms then follow up according to our procedures. For complaints and assesment appeal procedures please refer to the Participant Handbook. The Complaints Procedure and Complaints Form are also available on the Downloads section of the website.
We will also ask for more formal survey feedback to analyse and sent to management meetings every quarter. Your comments goes into this system.
